HEAD TO TOE WORK LOOK

One of the supremely annoying aspects of living in NYC is a rainy commute to work.

NYC rain means hordes of people flooding the subway, death matches for open taxi cabs erupting on every street corner, and inconsiderate pedestrians toting giant golf umbrellas on narrow sidewalks (you know who you are). Oh, and when you finally arrive at your destination, you look like a wet rat. Wearing an easy, neat look that will withstand the rain is essential. A great solution? Cropped pants. They immediately eliminate the dreaded “wet hem syndrome.” We love these fresh, Kelly green cigarette pants by Topshop. Pair with a chic, asymmetric wrap blouse like this style by J.W. Anderson for a touch of sophistication. Once you’re in the office space, chambray slingback pumps make a great pairing. During your actual commute, rock a cool pair of sneakers like these Nike LunarElite Sky Hi’s. They’ll look cute with your cropped pants paired with a trench. Not only will you stay dry, but you’ll also have major street cred.

HEAD TO TOE EASTER/PASSOVER

Trump unpredictable weather with a graphic look.

This time of year, weather walks the line between lovely and lousy. Showers pop up suddenly, temperatures waiver between frigid and fair, and the sun often hides behind clouds. Given the unpredictability of the weather, we always fall back on a graphic black and white palette. We’ve centered our holiday look around this elegant-yet-laid-back pair of trousers by Joseph. The wide-leg style and color-blocking fulfill two of spring’s biggest trends. A long-sleeved, open-knit sweater has enough heft for a chilly day, yet still feels light and spring-ish. A black camisole underneath provides appropriate coverage for an Easter brunch or Seder, but try a cool bra top for a night on the town. Later in the season, pair the pants with a short-sleeved, optic-white top for an ultra clean look. Black wedge mules like this pair from Zara add a cool element to the look. Plus, they feel seasonable without baring too much flesh. Come summer, pair with heeled sandals, like these bright cobalt beauties (with heels just over 3 inches, they’re actually walk-able!). Top the outfit off with a bright clutch and a sleek silver choker. And remember your trench coat

HEAD TO TOE

RAINY DAY LOOK

The April showers have arrived and are predictably wreaking havoc upon our outfit choices.

The next few weeks demand some camouflage, found in comfortable, stylish pieces that will hold up well in damp weather. We love the idea of a classic, striped, lightweight sweater— it's that French cool girl style that is so simple, yet so pulled together (even in the rain).  We love this lightweight version or this one in cashmere . Wear it with jeans in dark, gray, or light blue washes. You can also opt for a more relaxed fit or a straight-leg, distressed style. Sturdy weatherproof footwear is essential, so opt for one of these: a comfortable cowboy bootie, a slip-on sneaker , or a rain bootie. Finish the look off with these pearl-meets-punk earrings, and you’ll instantly look fresh for spring. Don’t forget you’ll need a raincoat. To make the look night-worthy, drape a leather jacket over your shoulders and just add heels.
