FOUR LIGHTWEIGHT JACKETS

The pre-fall collections have gotten us excited for the cooler weather.

Here are our favorite jackets for the cooler nights expected in this week's weather forecast.

FADED DENIM JACKETS

Leave it to Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent to perfect this classic. Other great styles can be found by Rag & Bone, Zara, and Madewell. The key details are worn-in denim with a shrunken fit. The more faded, the better.

WHITE BLAZER

It’s crisp looking and perfect for pairing with shorts right now and black pants or jeans later. The texture in this version by Topshop gives it an effortless edge.

LEATHER JACKETS

A Rick Owens biker jacket is forever stylish. But, so is this Étoile by Isabel Marant fitted version. Another pick is this cotton-blend, leather look-alike style by Current/Elliott.

VESTS

Menswear is huge for fall. A vest in denim, leather, or cotton is a great layering piece to wear over a dress right now, and over a sweater later.

NIGHT OUT

During the late summer, T-shirt and jeans are a go-to for nights out.

There’s something thrilling about being able to wear jeans in the evening without sweating your ass off. This week, we’re channeling Debbie Harry with a laid-back, yet still sexy evening look. Start with a loose-ish, graphic T-shirt. Style with fitted distressed jeans like this slightly cropped pair by Current/Elliott. We like how the shorter fit shows off a fabulous pair of shoes like these strappy open-toe booties by Schutz. A light jacket worn over the shoulders is a cool touch and will keep you warm when temperatures drop once the sun goes down. We love this reversible (and affordable!) style by BB Dakota.

WORK LOOK

This week’s pleasant weather is the perfect opportunity to welcome leather into your summer wardrobe.

It’s not often NYC-ers get to experience such a prolonged period of lovely summer weather. Take advantage of this week’s perfect temperatures and wear this A-line skirt by Topshop. It can easily go from work to cocktails and will also transition seamlessly into the next season (how cute will it look with a slouchy knit, tights and Chelsea boots come fall?). Keep the outfit professional by adding a crisp white blouse and a structured blazer. Metallic loafers add a boyish element and keep the skirt from looking too flirty. In keeping with the overall minimalist vibe, try a luxe calf-skin backpack as an alternative to a tote bag. Backpacks are big for fall, and this version by Elizabeth and James is beyond cool.
