HEAD TO TOE CASUAL LOOK

Wake up. Throw on sweater and jeans. Sleep. Repeat.

If you feel like you’re in a winter wardrobe rut, you’re not alone. But let’s face it: spring is a long ways away and we’re not parting with our sweaters anytime soon. Therefore, we need to infuse some new life into our humdrum sweater outfits. Enter this long cardigan sweater by Acne Studios, which fulfills all our sweater requirements (warm and practical; classic yet on-trend). Instead of wearing it with the requisite blue skinny jeans, why not add some edge with all black pairings? Don’t stop there: swap out jeans entirely for black leather leggings or joggers. Add an oversized scarf, a statement bag, and a beanie. These super stylish SLOOSH rain boots are perfect for the slushy, snowy days ahead (and they don’t even look like all-weather boots!). For dry days, a pair of black sneakers like these Nikes is a fun change.

HEAD TO TOE GOING OUT

A sweater dress is the perfect solution for cold evenings on the town.

We don’t always equate sweaters with sexiness, but this look shatters stereotypes. The abbreviated length and lace shoulder insets keep this Theory sweater dress (on sale now) safely in the realm of flirty, not frumpy. Especially when paired with over-the-knee, super warm boots. This pair by Valentino (also on sale) features a modest heel height that is great for getting around the city. Or try this suede version with a low block heel for a bit of a mod vibe. Add a faux snakeskin clutch with an interesting shape (this version by Emanuel Ungaro happens to be on sale) and understated “statement” jewelry and you’re good to go.

IF YOU COULD ONLY BUY ONE PIECE

Right now, the best armor for this freezing weather is a functional and stylish boot. Our favorite is the combat boot. This one by Anine Bing is as perfect as they come. They’re just as sleek-looking as the ones by Saint Laurent—but not nearly as pricey. What makes them so polished looking is that heel isn’t too heavy, they feature a perfectly rounded toe, and the overall look is very feminine. What’s more, they feature a side zipper, which makes them less cumbersome to take on and off. Seeing that you’re probably going to get some cabin fever after being cooped up indoors at the start of this week, you should get out and try on a pair at her recently opened boutique in the West Village. And don’t forget: her skinny jeans are insanely flattering as well and look perfect with these boots.
