HEAD TO TOE OUTDOOR RUN

This week’s chilly temperatures are no excuse to bail on your New Year’s fitness resolution.

Winter warriors know that warm, breathable, sweat-wicking layers are key to a successful outdoor workout. Start with a compression sports bra, like this style by Ultracor, made of quick-drying fabric which also contains a UV protectant for sunny weather. Layer Nike’s Pro Hyperwarm stretch-jersey hooded shirt on top. The sleek, gray top uses Nike dri-FIT technology to wick sweat away from the body and regulate body temperature. Sweaty Betty’s merino leggings are a great option for your bottom layer. The wool blend also helps regulate body heat, and the opaque double-knit is ideal for blustery winds (and modesty too). We also love these Nike Pro Warm leggings with their cute Fair Isle print. Top with a light-down, hooded puffer vest. The mesh insets on this style by Blanc Noir not only provide ventilation, but also create a sleek silhouette. While there’s no snow or rain in the immediate forecast, winter runners will be psyched to have these Asics GEL-Cumulus sneakers crafted from waterproof Gore-Tex. Don't forget a cute, ear-warming headband and a sleek case for your necessities like a credit card, cash, and driver's license.

HEAD TO TOE GYM TRAINING

Stay in our warm bed or get our (fat) ass to the gym? The struggle is real.

Stay motivated this winter with stylish, fun gear and accessories. Start with a cool, printed tight like this style by Vie Active. We like the flattering 7/8-length cut that hits right at the slimmest part of the leg, right above the ankle. In an ideal world, we’d be buff enough to rock this Outdoor Voices Athena Crop Bra top without an over-layer. Realistically, though, a cute tank top is necessary. We love this graphic tank by Tracksmith. The "365" message is inspirational yet not corny like so many other tees we see around. A supportive pair of training sneakers that will take you from cardio to weight training are a must. These Adidas Adipure 360.3s will go with everything and look sleek. Top off the look with a stylish Adidas by Stella McCartney sweatshirt, a striking water bottle by S’well, and some dope headphones from Frends.

HEAD TO TOE STUDIO CLASS

Apparently, your workout clothes must also be chic now. Long gone are the days of an oversized T-shirt and sweatpants.

Not that we’re knocking this trend. If you’re looking for motivation to get healthy, you may as well spend a little extra on great workout gear. Michi pants are pricey, but they are super flattering. We love the revealing mesh panel styles so much so that we’re admittedly wearing them after the gym. For cooler weather, we suggest the Suprastelle legging which provides a tad more coverage. There’s also the Quasar style that includes a stirrup so you won’t freeze your ankles off en route to class. Finish off the look with a high-support sports bra with a little edge, like this one from ADay. Wear a worn-in rocker tee on top. And––since it’s chilly out––a comfy hoodie is a must. We love this ultra comfy, minimalist style by Outdoor Voices, which is perfect for layering underneath that winter coat. Opt for a pair of high-top sneakers like these zip-up Vans so you can easily slip them on and off. Don’t forget to stash a pair of non-slip grip socks like these by Sticky Be Socks.

IF YOU COULD BUY A HAIR MIRACLE (OR TWO)

Sometimes you have time to shower and wash your hair after the gym. Sometimes you don’t. Regardless, these two hair products are timesavers. We’re usually skeptical of any product that promises to cut our blow-dry time and make hair smoother/sleeker/shinier at the same time. But Shu Uemura’s Straightforward Time-Saving Blow Dry Oil Spray actually does all that. Not only will it save you on those weekly trips to the blow-dry bar, but it will also prevent you from leaving your house with a semi-wet head of hair. Another one we love is Living Proof’s Perfect hair Day (PhD) dry shampoo, which eradicates sweat and oil, and leaves your hair feeling just-washed and smelling great.
