HEAD TO TOE

OFFICE CHIC

Opt for heels and ground-sweeping, wide-leg pants.

This pair from Theory has the perfect tailored fit that accentuates your waist and elongates your legs. The key is to wear them with booties that feature a high heel and slight platform. While we love the Jimmy Choo ones featured to the right, we’re also digging these by Sam Edelman for a fraction of the price. Opt for a fun sweater on top. This one from Co has a funky, Victoriana vibe with the ruffles, yet is fitted so it won’t overwhelm your frame. Finish the look off with minimal accessories. Don’t forget to wear a warm coat; that wool one simply won’t do for this week’s lows in the 20s.

HEAD TO TOE NIGHT OUT

As temperatures plummet, choosing what to wear for a night out becomes an increasingly difficult proposition.

When it’s 20 degrees outside, not even the thickest wool tights will save your legs. Our secret weapon for looking hot in the cold? Leather or faux-leather pants. Not only are they totally on-trend and figure-flattering (there's a pair out there for every body shape), but they're warm, insulating, and wind resistant. For evening, pair this Blank Denim vegan leather skinnies with an off-the-shoulder knit like this style by Intermix. If you’re not feeling the cold-shoulder look, try a lace-up neck style like this or this. Simple black suede pumps are a perfect match, but on extremely bitter nights, opt for a pair of ankle boots with a heel. When wearing a sweater with a complicated neckline, skip the necklace. Stick to earrings, rings, and bracelets like this Jennifer Fisher ID style. A longline, double-breasted coat is cool and elegant, especially when topped with a knit beanie. Opt for a standout bag to add punch to the look.

IF YOU COULD ONLY BUY JUST ONE PIECE

Trust us, we know: Finding the perfect pair of leather leggings can be next to impossible. We’ve tried everything from Joseph and Balenciaga to Theory. But the best ones we’ve found just so happen to be faux-leather and priced under $100. Wear day or night, paired with everything from oversized sweaters (V-necks, turtlenecks, or fisherman styles) to edgier knits). They look great paired with any shoe from high-top sneakers (Chucks and Golden Goose) to booties (Chelsea boots, suede ankle booties, and even combat styles). For a night out, just throw on some heels (as seen above).
