HEAD TO TOE WORK LOOK

As if getting dressed for blah winter weather wasn’t hard enough in general, you also have to deal with dressing for work.

A great pair of (warm) trousers is the antidote to your winter work wardrobe woes. It’s no secret Tibi is one of our favorite resources for sleek work staples with a modern twist. Right now, we’re loving the label’s tweed Easton trousers with their high waist, cool double tie detailing and relaxed fit. Top them with a slightly cropped sweater in the season’s favored marigold hue. The lattice back detail of this Topshop style perfectly echoes the lacing on the front of the trousers. Pair with a white heel or bootie, as pictured, for a nice graphic pop. A black maxi coat adds a sophisticated edge and will keep you warm over these chilly, grayish days. For a fresh look, eschew your favorite beanie for a jaunty newsboy cap. We love Eugenia Kim’s cozy cashmere Marina style. Ok, we got your outfit covered. The work part? It’s all you, baby.

HEAD TO TOE NIGHT LOOK

The temperatures are dropping, doesn’t mean your style has to.

For a change from your jeans looks, opt for biker pants. We’re big fans of these from RtA. The stretch fit makes for a very flattering skinny silhouette and the mirrored silver hardware and moto-inspired detailing adds a night-worthy flash. Thrown on an oversized black sweater like this one from Splendid which won’t leave you too hot indoors (and will keep the look on the right side of chic). Pair with killer ankle boots and silver accessories. We love finishing an all-black outfit look off with a red lip and a simple eye with just mascara. Add a pop of color with a cool blue metallic bag.

COLD FEET

We have already dealt with our fair share of hail and snow this winter. Alas, it’s only January and more cold and wet weather is on the way. We all have a reliable pair of heavy duty snow boots in our closet for those extreme weather events (remember the Cyclone Bomb?). But no one wants to walk around in heavy snow boots when it’s just plain cold and damp. So, what to wear for those chilly, nasty days that don’t quite warrant the Sorrels? Our favorite this season: Dr. Martens' Leonore Fur Lined Chelsea Boots. They’re the perfect practical, warm-yet-lighter-weight shoe for running around the city. Pair them with skinny jeans and an oversized cozy sweater or even wear with mini-dresses and tights. The best part is they’re slip-ons, so go ahead and throw them on for yoga class.
