HEAD TO TOE WORK LOOK

Pastels and neutrals are chic staples for your summer office wardrobe.

This time of year, it’s tough to maintain a polished work look in oppressive, makeup-melting city heat—especially if your day starts and ends with a stuffy subway commute. While a pretty dress is a no-brainer, relaxed-fit cropped pants are another great option and very on-trend right now. We love the ivory style by Club Monaco (pictured), or this ultra chic wide-legged pair by Theyskens’ Theory (on sale now!). For a summery feel, pair with a pastel-pink blazer. A silky tank top in the same color family as the trousers looks sophisticated under the candy-colored jacket. Plus, if you take the jacket off, the all-ivory combo looks amazing on its own. This pair of floral print pumps by J.Crew adds a fun and whimsical element to the otherwise staid look. However, a pair of minimalist peep-toe mules would work just as well. Pair with a neutral-hued bag and mixed-metal jewelry like this rosegold and gunmetal bangle by Vita Fede.

HEAD TO TOE DAY-NIGHT

Leather shorts are now essentials for every season. And with the summer heat kicking in, we feel like they are best at this very moment.

Don’t worry, your legs won’t stick together as long as you stick to the right cuts. Rag & Bone’s Em pair is made from buttery-soft leather and has a roomy cut for a cool, understated look. (We’re also fans of these faux -leather styles by Zara or H&M. ) Balance the shorts with a light, billowy blouse to get an elegant, classy look. We like either this swing crochet cami top by Kate Moss for Topshop  (this bra to wear underneath) with this sweater layered over it and these scalloped flats for the rainy days this week. For those days with sun in the forecast, opt for the ultimate day-to-night look with a white tunic top like this one by Maje or this one by BA&SH loosely tucked into your shorts. Add a pair of gorgeous sandals for an outfit that works for brunch or even a casual dinner. Pair both looks with a long necklace and simple bag

IF YOU COULD ONLY BUY JUST ONE BEAUTY PRODUCT

A great mascara has an ingenious way of making you look instantly refreshed. The only downside? When it runs under your eyes, it can make you look like a _____ (you can fill in this blank). Thank goodness then for this best-selling Japanese beauty find: Fairydrops Volume and Curl Burst Water Proof Mascara. Fashion insiders across the pond swear by it. After trying it out for ourselves, we're officially hooked. Thanks to the unique shape of the wand, you don’t need to curl your lashes, and the clump-free formula lifts and separates lashes. It doesn’t smear and it lengthens and thickens. With plenty of rain and humidity in the forecast this summer, this rare beauty find is a definite must-have.
