HEAD TO TOE TRAVEL LOOK

The Fourth of July weekend is drawing near. If you’re like us, you’re already planning what to pack (or what to wear if you’re staying put).

The midi-length shirtdress is the perfect solution to summer travel. It’s summery, but still offers enough coverage for air-conditioned crafts—land, air and sea. Try this faux-wrap style by Helmut Lang or this adorable and affordable style by BB Dakota. Save those pretty sandals for the destination itself n and wear a pair of sturdy canvas sneakers with a no-show sock en route– especially if you plan on flying because no one likes going through security with bare feet. We love this minimalist platform style by Eytys, the new it-girl brand. A woven tote and Panama hat feel vacation-y, even if you’re not beach-bound. And don’t forget a glamorous pair of shades like these by Thierry Lasry.

HEAD TO TOE CASUAL LOOK

Denim cutoffs are summer’s version of the jean.

With the hot temperatures and possible rain, you can’t go wrong with a denim cutoff-and-black top combo. We love the edgy look of a long tunic worn over cutoffs. This top from Helmut Lang is made from a crinkled gauze that is perfect for this weather—lightweight for humidity, but keeps you covered in case of a sudden temperature drop in the evening. Plus it won’t get ruined if it starts to rain. Keep it buttoned on the top, but open at the bottom so that the jean shorts are visible. Come fall, you can wear this tunic with skinny jeans and leggings. Or you can opt for this beautiful, more Boho take on the tunic by Anna Sui or even this one from Zara. Punctuate the outfit with a pair of pointed toe flats with metallic details such as these by Aquazzura or these, which have a similar effect for half the price. Finish the look off with an envelope shoulder bag.

TRAVEL BEAUTY: TOILETRY PICKS

Packing for a long weekend can be maddening. But when it comes to summer travel, we’re all about packing light and right. The easiest way to lighten your load is to seriously edit your toiletry bag. Here are some of our streamlined picks to stash in your toiletry case this summer.

-A spill-proof vinyl bag for your cosmetics. We love this monogrammable style by Talley-Ho Design. Even though they need to be ordered the old-fashioned way, they’re well worth it.

-What could be cuter or more useful for taming unruly locks than this Eva NYC Mini Flat Iron?

-3floz.com stocks mini versions of high-end products that you can’t find at the drugstore. Try the frizz-fighting BlowPro serum for smoothing out unruly locks.

-Don’t forget hair-ties and a cool turband in case you don’t have time to do your hair. Or try a travel- size version of cult-fave Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk to refresh second-day hair.

-Another great resource for miniature products is minimus.biz. It’s a one-stop shop for travel-sized versions of just about everything—from Q-tips and Shout Wipes to toothpaste and Advil, as well as other necessities.

-Sunblock is a must. Shiseido’s Urban Environment oil-free UV Protector SPF  is the best facial sunscreen we’ve found. It almost feels like primer the way it mattifies and smoothes your skin. Don’t let the tiny bottle fool you: it packs a wallop.

-Enhance your skin’s tan with tan-booster like this one by James Read, dab on some lip balm, and try a 2-in-1 product for cheeks and lips like Charlotte Tilbury’s Beach Stick in Moonbeach that provides a pretty glow. Don’t forget Neutrogena’s trusty make-up remover cleansing cloths, now available in travel-size packs . And keep your skin hydrated
