HEAD TO TOE CITY LOOK

Whatever the weather, patriotic fashion is always a “do” on the 4th of July.

Chalk it up to our inner eight-year-old girl, but we just can’t help donning red, white and blue on Independence Day. The trick is to look cool and sophisticated, not hokey. Pairing red and blue together can look garish if you’re not careful. We recommend, therefore, picking ever-so-chic white as your base color and adding red and blue accents. We love this crisp, bandeau-top playsuit by Topshop, as it’s perfect for this week’s heat and can easily be dressed up or down. Here, we paired it with smart-yet-casual leather wedge espadrilles, but a pair of canvas sneakers in white  or a cool pattern would also look amazing. Flat sandals are a no-brainer, or you could do it up with hot heels. Auden’s star drop earrings add a little glamour, while paying homage to our star-spangled banner. A crotched raffia clutch feels summery and the grosgrain ribbon detail adds a touch of vintage Americana without being over-the-top. Introduce a touch of red with a bold lip, and call it a day.

HEAD TO TOE BEACH LOOK

A maxi dress can take you from a day at the beach to a night of watching fireworks.

Rebecca Taylor's Indian maxi dress is an undeniable must-own for summer. The tiny blue floral print plus the sexy cut epitomizes bohemian glam. Layer it over a bikini and pair with a straw bag and casual flip-flops for a day at the beach. Or wear it to a dinner party or barbecue. Make sure to wear pasties or a crisscross bra underneath for modesty's sake. Pair with our favorite sandals, a lapis and gold ring, and a gold cuff. Finish the look off with a bronzed glow and light nail polish . For a similar effect, check out this dress by Zara (on sale right now).

HEAD TO TOE COUNTRY LOOK

Chilling lakeside means dressing comfortably.

For a nice and easy look, you have to keep it simple. All you need is a flattering pair of denim cut-off jeans around which to build your weekend wardrobe. Pair with a T-shirt and tie a lightweight plaid blouse around your waist for temperature drops. Pair with either calf-hair espadrilles or Converse. Add a cool watch (or this one is just as awesome for a fraction of the price) as your main jewelry. Finish the look off with this Melissa Odabash straw hat, which happens to have just the right colors for the 4th of July.
