HEAD TO TOE DAY-NIGHT

While milder weather may have us lightening our look, we’re still not going full-court press with our spring wardrobes.

Culottes are a fabulous, on-trend answer to transitional weather. Worn with an ankle or knee-high boot, they provide coverage and warmth, but still feel lighter than full-length trousers. Later in the season, wear them with everything from a canvas sneaker, to a pump, to a flat sandal. We recommend pairing your culottes with a slightly boxy, cropped top for a waist-flattering look. This version by Whistles features ¾-length drop-sleeves, which feels a little spring-y since they expose a bit of wrist. We’ve substituted our requisite black ankle boots for a less-severe, steel gray pair. Similarly, we’ve chosen a light gray coat (instead of a darker hue) and a pale tan bag to keep the look light and bright. For the warmer days this week in the 50s, we love this perfect-for-spring, denim patchwork denim “patchwork” coat by Iro.

HEAD TO TOE WORK LOOK

Suede is just what this current weather calls for, and the fabric is all over the spring 2015 runways. Think ’70s style.

A long suede skirt in a honey brown color plus a black sweater looks very chic. This one from Zara has a long cut that makes it’s appropriate for the office. It’ll also look great with a tank top and cool sandals come spring. Until then, pair with this lace top from Reiss, which has nice see-through detailing that transforms a basic black sweater into a somewhat edgy piece (don’t forget: lace is another big theme in fashion right now). Complete the look with polished heels and minimal accessories for a look that reads both creative office and dinner with friends.

FASHION FORECAST: GRAPHIC BAGS

We’re loving all the cheeky “phrase” clutches recently seen clutched under the arms of stylish women everywhere. We’re especially keen on Kenzo’s take, which features “oui” written in a bold graphic print on one side and “non” on the opposite side. Available in fun bright shades like yellow, peach and mint (as well as black), it’s a sure-fire way to add some punch to your spring/summer wardrobe. We also love Clare V.’s similar, oversized style, which comes at a slightly more wallet-friendly price point. We’ll say “Oui oui” to that, for sure.
