HEAD TO TOE GOING OUT

We’re not brave enough to forsake our tights for bare legs just yet.

But, we’re all about lightening our look. Tanya Taylor’s cut-out shoulder dress is perfect for transitional weather since it’s not overly bare. And the black-and-white graphic pattern is not too summery to wear now. Instead of black booties or heels, try pairing with a pair of oxfords. We love this metallic platform style by Dieppa Restrepo or this more paired-down black patent style by Barbara Bui. A black crossbody bag like this fringed version by Carven feels effortless. Drape a lighter-weight wool coat over your shoulders, and throw your hair up into a topknot for an easy look. Don’t forget the red lipstick and some standout jewels, like this Tahitian black pearl ring.

HEAD TO TOE CASUAL LOOK

This time of year it’s all about the army coat finish.

Throw in a pair of patchwork jeans and the look will feel less like one you wore this time last year. We love this pair or this one from Zara. For those willing to really pay up, check out these by Saint Laurent. The key to pulling off the patchwork, distressed denim look is to offset it with minimalist pieces. This blouse from Iris & Ink features a subtle pattern and is very on-trend silk tie collar that gives the simple top a nice, understated edge. Pair with a black fitted blazer like this one, and finish the look off with an army jacket. To take the look from day to night, just throw on heels and you’re good to go!

NAILING IT: THE NUDE TREND

After seasons of over-the-top nail art and funky shades, we’re ready for a nice purge. While we always love a true-red nail, we’re embracing the nude nail trend with open arms (or should we say, hands?). Nude hues look great on any nail length, though we’re partial to short-medium lengths. Stay away from overly square tips that may evoke Theresa Caputo, and stick with a soft, rounded or natural, oval look. Below are our favorite picks based upon skin tone, but these colors are pretty interchangeable and look good on most anybody.
