HEAD TO TOE WORK LOOK

The sleeveless jacket is a perfect piece for transitional fall weather.

It’s rare that a fashion trend is also work appropriate. That’s just one of many reasons we heart the sleeveless coat (aka the “vest”) trend. It’s cool, it’s sensible for the current weather, and it looks polished at the office. Plus, the right piece, like this asymmetric, leather-trimmed style by Vince, can also be worn off-duty with jeans, leather pants, or mini skirts. For the office, try pairing your vest with a blouse and a pair of wide-legged trousers that are fitted at the hip. Be sure to wear a heeled shoe for an elongated silhouette, as the flared trousers will overwhelm a flat shoe and make you look dowdy. We love these budget-friendly mules by Schutz. The neutral tone and sleek cut add a sophisticated vibe. One striking piece of jewelry is enough. We love this silver serpentine wrap bracelet by Paula Mendoza, but a long, pendant necklace  would also work.

HEAD TO TOE CASUAL LOOK

Forgo the urge to wear your workout gear for early morning school runs or afternoon pick-ups.

This week, try out one of fall’s best trends: the relaxed trouser. We particularly like this pair from Zara. Keep things simple and pair with a simple, lightweight cashmere (preferably half-tucked) top, cat-eye shades, and loafers. The look is ideal for this time of year. These pants can easily be worn throughout the week. Change up your daytime look with a cool tee, a cardigan, and a pair of slip-ons. At night, spruce up with a pair of heels and a cool clutch. In other words, the trouser is your wardrobe's new best friend.

IF YOU COULD ONLY BUY JUST ONE PIECE

Peeking under rolled-up jeans or over the top of ankle boots, luxe socks in cool designs are always a must-have for the fall and winter seasons. Which is why we’re all about Hansel from Basel, designer Hannah Byun’s playful line of sheer socks. Our favorites include the drippy print and the large dot sheer socks. Best of all, they’ll ensure your feet stay looking fashionable in those apartments with strict no-shoe policies.
