CASUAL DAY

With the days turning crisper this week, nothing conveys the transition to fall quite like faux leather cropped pants.

We’ve found the perfect pair of vegan leather pants. We’ll be wearing ours with an oversized button-down plaid shirt paired with either Converse or Air Max (think ’90s trend) and a denim jacket. Since we’ll probably live in them all week, we’ll also try them with an oversized top and graphic lightweight sweaters and flats. (To keep the look flattering, pair a lightweight long cami underneath your button-down or sweater.) What makes this look so great is that you can just swap your day flats for one of our favorite ankle boots for a night-ready look. Keep the look polished by opting for leather skinnies that are slightly cropped and fitted (almost like leggings). If you’re not ready to commit to a full leather look, check out this pair with just an accent of leather from J.Crew. Finish off the look with a leather backpack to keep the urban cool edge.

NIGHT OUT

Beautiful weather allows us to have fun with fashion.

This continuing stretch of clear skies and pleasant temperatures is ideal for outfit combos that are usually impractical in NYC. How many times a year does a New Yorker get to wear bare legs and a leather jacket without freezing (or sweltering) to death? Before tights-weather sets in, seize this opportunity to basically dress like a cool LA girl. A basic printed tunic dress with ¾-length sleeves is a great centerpiece to your look. We love the python print of this Topshop version.  Add tights to transition nicely into the winter months. While heeled ankle boots are an obvious pairing, why not try some glam, heeled sandals? These Prada beauties are not meant for the subway, but they are amazing, nonetheless, for a special night out. A cropped leather jacket adds edge to the look and is necessary for the chilly evenings ahead this week. Top off the look with a cool necklace like this (slightly menacing, skull accented) pearl collar by Venessa Arizaga and enamel Edie Parker clutch.
