HEAD TO TOE CASUAL LOOK

A vest is the perfect piece of outerwear for this week's cool but still-pleasant weather.

Moto vests in all fabrics and shapes are having a moment. We love this midnight blue tweed version by Rebecca Taylor. It’s a unique and sophisticated take on the trend (and could easily transition to the office with the right blouse and trousers). For a less pricey pick, try this faux leather version by C&C California. If you want to go all out, we are dying over this painted leather version by Maison Martin Margiela. Throw on an easy-to-wear, loose-fitting blouse underneath, like Equipment’s silk version with color-blocked plaids. While we love all the faded, baggy, and trashed denim currently out there, a pair of dark blue skinnies will make this outfit feel more put-together. Silver penny loafers add a little glam without forsaking comfort.* Dark, oversized cat-eye shades and a large tote complete the vibe.

*We’re expecting showers this week. To adapt the outfit for rain, swap out the loafers for these amazing wellies by Rag & Bone for Hunter.

HEAD TO TOE

DAY-NIGHT

The mornings and nights are undeniably cooler now, which means it’s all about layering.

Undoubtedly, one of the tricks for dressing for day to night is smart layering. That way you're prepared for chilly mornings and evenings, as well as the height-of-the-day warmth. Start with a basic tank top. We prefer one with dropped armholes, like this style by BLK DNM. It will help eliminate unwanted bulk around the shoulders that layering can sometimes cause. Plus, it will balance the look of skinny jeans when poking out underneath your next layer: a fitted sweater. Footwear is the key to taking a look from day to night. A cool yet comfortable pair of booties with edgy accents will take you from the playground to a fun dinner with friends. The gray and black colors of this outfit make it dressier for the evening and allow the hardware on the boots to be the real focus. Finish off the look with a blazer. We love the contrast of classic, preppy elements with edgy booties. Of course, if you have the time, why not change into some sexy shoes?  We heart these heeled sandals by Gianvito Rossi.

IF YOU COULD BUY JUST ONE BEAUTY PRODUCT

Livingproof

WHERE TO BUY

LIVING PROOF Prime style extender, sephora.com

It’s not often that a product actually performs as well as it claims. Living Proof’s Prime Style Extender is a rare exception to the rule. It truly extends a blow out an extra day or two. This weightless hair “primer” can be worn alone or under your favorite styling product. It helps detangle hair, smooth the cuticle, and extend and protect your style with its lab-formulated “miracle molecule.” We tried it out, and our blow dry looked near perfect the next day. Plus, our hair felt and looked silky. It’s perfect for the cooler weather—you can wash and style the night before and not worry about running out with a wet head in the morning.
